Contractor says Hubbard Drive paving nearly complete; council and staff praised for project work

A contractor who worked on Hubbard Drive told the Heath City Council that the paving portion of his project finished the same day as the meeting and that the roadway could open to traffic about 10 days later.
Rob Whittle, who identified himself as a resident and contractor, told the council he represents the company that completed paving “from Michael Lee ... all the way to South Scenic.” He said the final yards of concrete went down earlier that afternoon and estimated the road would open to the public on April 18, subject to final finishing of retaining walls and other work.
Whittle praised three city employees by name for their help during the project. “They have been out there with me at 4 in the morning during the summer. They've been there late at night,” he said, naming Mike Shook, Fred Burns and Richard Dormeyer and urging the council to pass along public thanks.
City staff later referenced Hubbard Drive during city-manager remarks. The city staff member providing updates described planning for a new DPS facility and confirmed the city’s live-stream system was in a soft-launch phase. The staff member acknowledged Rob Whittle’s earlier comments by saying, “Rob Whittle stole my thunder on Hubbard, so I'm gonna skip that one.”
The council did not take action on Hubbard Drive at the meeting; the contractor’s remarks were part of the public comment period.
