Hoover board approves multiple construction, technology and food-service contracts; rejects two roof bids

The Hoover City Board of Education approved multiple contracts on a series of motions that passed by voice vote, awarding work for athletic lighting, parking lots, network electronics, food-service equipment and one elementary roof replacement, while rejecting two roofing bids that exceeded available budgets.

Superintendent Dr. Maddox recommended approval of a program consulting proposal with Lemoine Program Services for restroom and locker room renovations at a cost of $49,250; the board approved the proposal. The board awarded a bid for child nutrition program food-service equipment to Singer H and R, the lowest responsive bidder, for a total of $72,745. The board also awarded a network electronics bid to C Spire Business for Cisco-based equipment at a cost of $1,287,485.76.
