Board hears facilities study update and technical-school grants; NEF fundraiser raised $18,000

At the April 8 board meeting, trustees received reports from committees and external partners, including a facilities-usage assessment from the Schrader group and updates related to the technical school and the Neshaminy Education Foundation (NEF).
Board member Mr. Allen summarized the Schrader group’s preliminary report, saying it provides an analysis of facility usage following recent construction, renovation and district realignment and offers projections and suggestions for future facility planning. “We received a report from the Schrader group ... to give us some kind of an idea of our facility usage to help us see where we are at this point in time,” Allen said. The board indicated it is still digesting the report and that further discussion will follow at committee meetings.
On career and technical education matters, trustees heard that the technical school accepted a Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) grant of $400,000 described as supplemental equipment funding, reportedly directed at welding and equipment updates. The technical-school report also mentioned a donation of a dental-manikin to the dental program for student x-ray practice.
The board also heard a report on an NEF Harlem Wizards fundraiser held March 15 that drew more than 1,000 attendees and raised over $18,000 for the foundation; the NEF will consider scholarship applications at its April 14 meeting. Additionally, the district’s budget committee reported that a preliminary budget for the technical school was circulated to business managers for review.
These committee reports were informational; no board actions or votes on the Schrader report, the PDE grant acceptance or the NEF items were recorded at the April 8 meeting.
