City Service Commission approves reinstatement and personnel extensions in unanimous votes

The Milwaukee City Service Commission on April 8 unanimously approved a reinstatement request and three personnel extensions, the commission recorded.

At the start of the meeting the commission approved a reinstatement request filed as file number 241853. The communication described a request from Laquisha Schroeder (the file’s listed requester) asking reinstatement to a finance and administration manager position in the Department of Public Works Administration Services (formerly titled Finance and Planning Manager). The commission’s vote was recorded as: Commissioner Miller — yes; Commissioner Smith — yes; Commissioner Cleary — yes. The commission also approved two probationary-period extensions requested by the Milwaukee Health Department. The first (file number 241897) extends the probationary period for Diana Lopez, housing compliance officer 1, for six months from April 27, 2025, through Oct. 27, 2025; testimony on the item noted the extension was needed because Lopez has not yet obtained a required Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code exam/license. The commission recorded the vote as Miller — yes; Smith — yes; Cleary — yes.

The second health-department probationary extension (file number 241898) extended the probation for Brian Burns, compliance analyst, for three months retroactive from March 31, 2025, through June 30, 2025. Commissioners heard the department’s explanation that Burns had been working in a complex compliance role and needed additional time for transition; the motion passed unanimously.

All personnel items were presented with supporting paperwork in advance of the meeting — communications from the relevant department heads, job descriptions and probationary reports when applicable — and each item was moved, seconded and approved without recorded dissent.
