Board members and parks staff agreed on a schedule of June 7 for pressure washing and June 21 for painting, with a possible reopening or rededication the afternoon of the paint day. Councilor Parsons and Robert (parks staff) discussed logistics including repairs to holes in the play surface before cleaning, volunteer coordination, and the need to block shelter reservations so users are not surprised by closures.
The board encouraged artist involvement for detailed artwork restoration. A board member said they would contact artist Beth Melendy to coordinate touch-ups and suggested the Marion County fire district could paint a donated fire-truck feature. The board also discussed ordering supplies, drop cloths and painttype selection; members cautioned that the playground’s current safety surfacing is expensive and that paint spills must be avoided.
