Alvin ISD recognizes state qualifiers, National Merit finalists and program graduates

The district and the Alvin ISD Education Foundation delivered $139,124.01 in educator grants to support classroom projects such as libraries, flexible seating, virtual‑reality tools and 3‑D printing, Superintendent Nelson told the board. The district also presented “Believes” awards to 36 employees who exemplify Alvin ISD’s core beliefs.
The board acknowledged athletic and academic achievements across campuses: multiple students were recognized for qualifying for state competitions in swim and dive and powerlifting, and several teams and coaches were named. Alvin ISD also announced that 11 students were named National Merit finalists for the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program; the names provided at the meeting were Bridal Necestra (Alvin High School), Connor Billard (Shadow Creek High School), Ananya Chadnick (Shadow Creek High School), Nathan Cruz (Shadow Creek High School), Danny Jacobs (Shadow Creek High School), Nishpa Haka (Shadow Creek High School), Ishan Patel (Shadow Creek High School), Shibi Pedada (Shadow Creek High School), Ashman Vijay Kumar (Shadow Creek High School), Michael Wallow (Shadow Creek High School) and Joshua Vu (Shadow Creek High School).
District staff also reported that 95 families completed the Ready program and that the district held its first Spanish spelling bee; winners cited in the meeting included Giovanni Reyes (Alvin Elementary) and additional winners from other campuses.
Superintendent Nelson and the staff member who presented the commendations thanked students, families, coaches and volunteers for their work and community support. A series of photographs and a small recognition were held at the meeting; no formal board action was required for the recognitions.
