Boulder Valley School District staff on April 8 told the Board of Education they are midway through a five-year sustainability action plan and highlighted recent achievements in operations, curriculum and student engagement.
The update, led by sustainability staff including Dr. Gita Carroll (sustainability energy officer), Miles Hoffman (sustainability energy analyst) and PK–12 science coordinator Erin Greenwood, reviewed goals carried in both the 2021 sustainability plan and a 2024 Green New Deal resolution adopted by the board.
Key operational targets and progress: - Short-term emissions goal: a 14% reduction from FY2019 in building and operations emissions; staff said they nearly met that target in FY24 and aim for carbon neutrality by 2050.
