The Litchfield Elementary School District Governing Board unanimously approved April 8 a three‑year master lease with TEQ Lease Education Finance to purchase and deploy Promethean interactive classroom boards districtwide.
CFO Vaughn said the lease follows a model the district recently used to procure teacher devices: a three‑year term at 0% interest that allows the district to deploy Promethean boards in every classroom next school year while spreading payments over time. Vaughn said the timing also provides a discount because a new model of the board is approaching release.
Board members asked about device lifespan and software support. When asked, staff said districts that had implemented the boards reported a typical lifespan of 10 to 15 years and that vendors generally continue to provide software updates for older models. Vaughn and trustees also discussed comparisons with ceiling‑mounted projectors; staff said the boards can be purchased in multiples for less than the cost of wiring and mounting a projector, producing ongoing savings for the district.
The motion to approve the master lease agreement was made by Miss Moran and seconded by Mister Mikes. Voting was recorded as Miss Moran—yes; Miss Wallace—yes; Mister Mikes—yes; Mister Owens—yes; President Zaima—yes. The motion passed.
Staff indicated the lease will support unified device models to simplify training and instructional consistency; final procurement and deployment schedules will be presented to the board as contracts are executed.
