Parent says substitute grabbed his son at South Lakes Elementary; asks board for timely investigation

Bridges told the board he previously raised the issue at a March 4 meeting and was promised an update; he said he had not been contacted with the follow‑up he expected. “I came before the board on March 4 and informed you all about how my son was grabbed by a substitute teacher, and I did not believe the principal or vice principal followed up with an active investigation in a timely manner, if at all,” Bridges said.
He told the board the problem was not isolated: he cited an online comment from another parent who reported a similar incident at the same school. Bridges asked the board to consider whether staff have been negligent and urged the board to adopt a policy that would require removal of staff when credible allegations are reported.
The chair replied that staff would make the chief of staff and appropriate administrators available to Bridges before he left and asked staff to follow up. The public record shows the board offered to have district staff meet with Bridges at the meeting’s conclusion to discuss the matter in more detail.
