Commission hears updates on clubhouse renovation, pool restroom design and park parking work

Parks and Recreation staff provided commissioners with updates on several park facilities projects, including clubhouse renovations, a replacement restroom at the pool, a parking-lot reconstruction program and new trailhead signage.
Renesh, a Parks and Recreation staff member, said the clubhouse has been removed from rentals while crews install new flooring, new countertops, and a double-door entrance at the front plus a new exit adjacent to the pool. Lighting improvements also are planned. Renesh said the next major renovation will be a new restroom at the pool and that the restroom design is currently with an architect; staff plan to solicit contractors once design is complete and expect construction to start after the pool season ends.
On parking lots, staff said work will use a concrete construction similar to the recently completed park drive. The contractor will coordinate timing around the junior fishing event (June 7) so the event area is not under construction at that time. Staff warned that the lakeside access area off Lazy Forest and Crass Hollow will likely be blocked at one point because of space constraints, while other parking areas will be kept open where possible.
Renesh also said new park-rule signs and trailhead maps are expected in roughly six to eight weeks. The signage will include maps marking trailheads and showing adjacent trails.
Commissioners asked about timelines for reopening the clubhouse to rental use; staff said the clubhouse will not reopen until necessary contractors (glass, countertops and others) complete their work and that it is expected to reopen after the pool season ends. No formal vote or contract awards were taken at the meeting; staff will bring permitting, bid or contract items to City Council or future meetings as required.
