The Sedona City Council approved several operational and capital items at its April 15 meeting, voting unanimously to move forward on radio infrastructure upgrades, City Hall door and window replacements and routine consent items.
Radio and dispatch infrastructure: The council approved a linking agreement with Zetron Inc. to complete the Sedona Police Department’s radio infrastructure capital improvement project. Support services manager Erin Leffler and Zetron representatives described a phased simulcast and voter‑receiver design that co‑locates radio equipment with the Sedona Fire District, adds redundancy, and improves coverage across Sedona and surrounding terrain. The contract amount approved for the Police Department radio infrastructure enhancement CIP was $1,107,587.30; the council authorized the linking agreement and implementation work, with execution to begin in July 2025 and a projected cutover in July 2026.
City Hall windows and doors: Council awarded a construction contract to Caliente Construction Inc. for City Hall window and door replacement in the amount not to exceed $248,490.20. Staff said the project replaces five double doors and three fixed double‑panel windows with custom commercial fixtures designed for longevity; lead times were reported at 10–12 weeks with an on‑site construction phase of about 21 days. Staff described the work as part of a multi‑year facilities CIP to address aging frames and improve building energy efficiency.
Consent and other items: Council approved consent items 3(a) through (g) without objection. Earlier in the meeting the council also approved proclamations recognizing Fair Housing Month, International Dark Sky Week and a Keep Your Pets Fire Safe week; those recognitions were presented to local partners and nonprofit representatives.
The votes on the radio linking agreement and the City Hall construction contract were unanimous. Council directed staff to finalize contracts consistent with the approvals and return or report to council as needed for project management and budget adjustments.
