Brownsburg police report recent shootings, a fatal wrong‑way crash, tornado response and narcotics unit awards

BROWNSBURG, Ind. — At its April 8 meeting the Brownsburg Police Department provided updates on several public-safety matters: a March fatal shooting under county prosecutor review, a serious wrong‑way crash on Interstate 74, a tornado response on April 2 that prompted multiagency assistance, the department’s K‑9 succession planning and a narcotics-unit award.
Chief Joseph Grimes told the commission the department has seen increased "shots-fired" calls since January: 58 reported shots-fired calls countywide with nine incidents where shots were confirmed fired. The department's computer-aided dispatch data showed four incidents countywide with a person shot since Jan. 1, one of which occurred in Brownsburg in March and resulted in two fatalities; the investigation is ongoing and under review by the Hendricks County Prosecutor's Office.
