Brownsburg police reassign CSI duties, create property-room manager role and confirm analyst's status

BROWNSBURG, Ind. — The Brownsburg Police Department told the Police Commission on April 8 that it is realigning civilian staffing to address workload in investigations and evidence management, moving a non-sworn employee into a property-room manager role and formalizing the position in department policy.
Chief Joseph Grimes said Christie Brazil will be moved from administrative services into the investigations unit as a civilian first-class property room custodian; staff presented a job description for the First Class Civilian Property Room Manager (policy 02.20.05) that the commission subsequently approved.
"We identified the fact that moving Christie Brazil from the administrative services, we're getting her certified and trained and she will become part of the investigations unit as a civilian first class property room custodian," Chief Grimes said. Department leaders explained other civilian staff in administrative services will absorb remaining duties.
The commission also approved a job description for a First Class Civilian Narcotics Intelligence Analyst (02.15.03) and, separately, approved Chief Grimes' request to remove Daniela Valenzuela Fernandez from probationary status and to authorize the chief to approve her new rate of pay. Chief Grimes' letter filed on the public record states Ms. Valenzuela Fernandez completed her probation on April 5, 2025.
