Kevin Knox, Parks and Recreation coordinator, told the Assembly the Sitka Recreation Foundation donated a 40-by-25-foot multi-chamber air floor for gymnastics and recreation programs. The foundation raised funds and secured donated shipping; the floor weighs about 600 pounds and was delivered and placed into school storage with help from the Keet school PE teacher.
Knox said the floor acts similarly to a spring floor when inflated and will be used for local gymnastics instruction. The Assembly voted 5-0 to accept the donation.
Assembly members thanked the Sitka Recreation Foundation and donors for providing the equipment to expand recreational offerings for residents and students.
