Mayor Joette Langanese said the letter was prepared after meetings in Washington, D.C., with the National Park Service, and described the funding as necessary for potential projects such as extending wastewater and water services to parts of Arches National Park across the river. Langanese said Park Service staff requested local partner letters to Senator Mike Lee, who chairs the relevant committee, and that council concurrence would support both the local project and broader park‑system restoration efforts.
Councilmember Jason moved to sign the letter; Tawny seconded the motion and the council voted 5‑0 to approve. Staff said outreach to congressional offices was ongoing and the letter would complement those discussions.
