The Edmond Planning Commission on April 8 approved a site plan for Monarch at Honeyfield, several zoning map amendments, a preliminary plat and a final batch of historic-plat amendments that remove racially discriminatory language now subject to city correction under state law. Most approvals were unanimous and will be transmitted to Edmond City Council for consideration on April 28.
The most substantial land‑use decision was approval of case SP24-0009, the Monarch at Honeyfield site plan, which the commission approved 4-0. The plan covers 288 residential units in eight buildings, with two four-story buildings fronting Covell and the remaining buildings three stories tall. Jessica Blue, with Johnson and Associates, representing the applicant, told the commission the proposal “is in conformance with the approved PUD. We are not requesting any variances and staff has recommended approval.” Access to the site will be provided from Covell at two locations, and utilities and drainage will be constructed as part of the Honeyfield development’s overall infrastructure improvements.
Several rezoning requests also advanced. The commission voted 4-0 to recommend approval of zoning map amendment Z2400016, which would rezone the 7,000-square-foot parcel at 330 West First Street from single-family to a Planned Unit Development that allows up to three residential units.
