Cedar Hill Fire Department awards lifesaving honors to crews after two successful rescues

The Cedar Hill City Council on April 8 presented Lifesaving Awards to members of the Cedar Hill Fire Department for their roles in two separate emergency responses earlier this year.
Assistant Chief Jason O'Neil and other department leaders told the council that on Jan. 22 B-shift Station 1 responded to a cardiac arrest in which dispatch provided vital information that helped the crew perform life-saving care. The department identified Captain McMahon, Engineer Greenberg, Paramedic William Chauncey, MOT Jacob Wasinger, Desiree Spencer and Chris Bullock for their roles; the patient was reported back at work with no deficits.
The department also recognized a traumatic rescue in which a patient's head was crushed between a trailer and a post. C-shift Station 1 personnel led by Captain Scott Moss (not present) and identified on record included Engineer Justin Smith, Mike Terry (not present), Alan Dyke and Ethan Davis (not present). Both patients survived and have returned to work, one as an emergency room doctor at a Baylor hospital.
Chiefs emphasized the role of dispatchers and Southwest Regional Communications Center in relaying information. The council and chiefs presented awards and photographs at the meeting.
