Cedar Hill accepts fiscal 2024 comprehensive financial report and single audit with no findings

The Cedar Hill City Council voted April 8 to accept the city’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the single audit for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024, after an auditor presentation that the reports received clean, unmodified opinions.
Rachel Orsandy, audit partner in charge for the audit firm, told the council the city received unmodified opinions on both the financial statements and the single audit and that there were no findings or internal control issues identified in the audit process. She noted the single audit is required when a governmental entity records more than $750,000 in federal expenditures and praised the city for submitting all deliverables on time.
City Finance Director Chuck Fox (presenting to council) and auditors highlighted that staff completed a major ERP conversion during the audit period and still met reporting deadlines. Orsandy said the city is current on Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements through fiscal 2024 and noted upcoming GASB standards the city will need to implement in future years.
Councilmembers on the finance and audit committee commended finance staff and the auditors for their work. The council then moved to accept the reports; the motion passed unanimously.
No audit findings were announced and councilmembers signaled readiness to move into budget season.
