Cedar Hill officials on April 8 welcomed Domenica Farmer, vice president for Texas at Waste Management (WM), and highlighted high resident satisfaction with trash and recycling services under WM’s long-running contract.
City staff cited the city’s biennial citizen satisfaction survey and told council that 82% of respondents rated the quality of residential garbage collection as satisfied or very satisfied, 80.4% rated curbside recycling the same, and about 73–74% rated bulky-item collection as satisfied or very satisfied. Assistant City Manager (name on record as Melissa) introduced Farmer and noted WM has served Cedar Hill for 16 years and that five years remain on the parties’ current contract.
“We always strive to offer the very best in environmental services,” Domenica Farmer said, thanking council for the opportunity to serve Cedar Hill. She described WM’s focus on sustainability and said the company is available to address issues in the city.
Assistant City Manager Melissa told council the city had reduced curbside clutter and nuisance problems after switching to 96‑gallon carts and said WM’s resources helped the city respond after a recent storm. “We authorized waste management to pick up everything throughout the city,” she said, adding that the contractor’s capacity shortened cleanup timelines compared with neighboring cities.
No action or vote was taken during the briefing session. The WM presentation was informational and included staff remarks about ongoing contract performance and customer satisfaction results. Councilmembers thanked WM and expressed appreciation for service during emergency responses and for the regular operations that keep neighborhoods clean.
Background and next steps: staff said the WM contract runs for five more years; the briefing did not include proposed changes to that contract, and no procurement items were brought forward during the session.
