Key conditions agreed by the applicant and included in the approval: a written definition of “private school” for the site; a limit on total enrollment not to exceed 150 students; 24-hour supervision when students are residing in dormitories and no overnight residential occupancy unless classes are in session; a check-in requirement for campus visitors and a campus guest policy that disallows overnight guests; required maintenance of structures, landscaping and trash receptacles; collection and remittance of transient occupancy and meals taxes as applicable; compliance with all federal, state and local laws and licensing requirements; and fire and life-safety measures such as smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
Chris Winslow, an attorney representing Next Level Career Development Academy, said the applicant worked with county staff and supported the conditions as a uniform way to address prior questions raised by the Board.
Board action: Supervisor Webb moved to approve the special exception with the conditions presented; Supervisor Pugh seconded. The clerk called the roll; the motion passed unanimously with five affirmative votes.
