Council delays North Kansas Avenue kayak launch contract to May meeting

League City councilors voted to postpone consideration of a construction contract for the North Kansas Avenue kayak launch project until the council's second meeting in May.

The council was asked to consider a resolution authorizing a construction contract with Jurden Enterprises for project PK1910A in an amount not to exceed $1,509,443.50, with a work change directive budget of $150,944, for a total project budget not to exceed $1,660,387.50. During discussion a council member moved to postpone the item, saying members wanted the project cost broken out by element and to see lower-cost options for each element. Another member seconded the motion. The motion to postpone passed, and the item will return at the second May meeting for further review.

The postponement request specifically sought a more detailed cost breakout and the presentation of alternatives with lower price points for project components. No final contract award or final project decision was made at the April 8 meeting.

The project was identified on the agenda as North Kansas Avenue kayak launch PK1910A and named Jurden Enterprises as the proposed contractor. The council did not vote on the contract terms or the budgetary authorization at this meeting; action was limited to postponement to allow staff to provide additional detail.
