Council hears updates on rodeo grounds, arena fees and a DNR grant application for a pickleball court

Tom Kaye and Lisa Miller described maintenance and improvements at the rodeo grounds and ball fields, including bringing fresh silt and top layers to improve arena footing. Miller said Diamond H’s rodeo contract is expiring and the city will advertise for a new contractor in the local newspaper over two editions. She and Kaye are preparing a proposed fee schedule for the arena and will present it to council for approval next month.
Council member Judd Beagley said he submitted a grant application to the Utah Division of Natural Resources for parks and recreation funds to help install a pickleball court; he described the grant-writing effort as a learning experience and said the council will await the agency’s response.
Council members also reported volunteer and community-worker activity at parks, painting stalls at the rodeo grounds and cleanup work. No formal decisions were made on the Diamond H contract or grant at the March 19 meeting; advertising and fee-schedule development were recorded as staff/council follow-up items.
