Committee approves a package of natural‑resources bills in work session; summaries and outcomes

- Senate Bill 19: Ratifies the Great Plains Wildland Fire Protection Compact and the Northwest Wildland Fire Protection Agreement; ratification is effective upon the Governor's declaration and approval by member states. - Senate Bill 21: Expands authorized use of certain outdoor‑recreation grants and allows the Division of State Parks administrator to designate a person to serve on the advisory board in the administrator's place. Motion to "do pass" was made by Senator Pzena with a second from Senator Scheibel. Motion carried. Chair signed the floor statement to herself.
- Senate Bill 31: (See separate article) — Excludes federal agencies claiming vested water rights from the Dec. 31, 2027, filing deadline; committee passed the bill after debate (mover: Senator Scheibel; seconder: Senator Pzena).
- Senate Bill 83: Initially authorized up to $19,000,000 in general obligation bonds to fund environmental improvement projects in the second phase of the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program; the Division of State Lands proposed an amendment reducing bond authority to $10,500,000. Committee voted to amend and do pass SB 83; motion carried and the floor statement was assigned to Senator Pizzina.
- Senate Bill 276: An amendment was introduced shortly before the session that removes most sections of the bill and leaves revised reporting requirements for certain incidents resulting in sewage, industrial waste or other unauthorized discharges to the Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP). The amended amendment was moved and the committee voted to amend and do pass; Senator Hansen was recorded as a second on the motion and the floor statement was assigned accordingly.
