The resolution notes that Chef Michael Siebert opened White Wine and Butter in Greer in 2020, expanded to a location at Greer Golf in 2025, served as the 2024 South Carolina chef ambassador and won the Food Network’s Chopped competition in March 2025, frequently identifying Greer as his adopted hometown. Mayor Danner said the council wanted to recognize Siebert and his supporters for bringing attention to the city.
Siebert thanked the audience and council, attributing his success to local supporters. “This is a great honor. Very much appreciated. I couldn't do any of this without my village,” Siebert said, adding thanks to family and staff who worked behind the scenes. Councilmembers applauded as the council read the text of the resolution and presented the framed certificate and a ceremonial key.
The resolution (listed in the meeting as Resolution 7 20 25) becomes effective on approval by the council. The action is ceremonial and does not create a regulatory or budgetary obligation for the city.
