The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners on April 8 approved a one-year extension for the recordation of Sterling Ranch Filing 7A, extending the approval through June 11, 2026.
Brett Thomas, chief planner for Planning Services, told the board the subdivision resolution allows the director to grant a one-year extension for plat recordation and that further extensions may be granted by the board upon written request. Thomas said the director previously granted a one-year extension through June 11, 2025, and staff recommended extending the recordation deadline another year, subject to the original 12 conditions of approval.
Kevin Jonk, director of entitlements and engineering for Sterling Ranch Development Company, said the applicant had no presentation but was available to answer questions.
After no public comment, a commissioner moved to approve the extension for project file XT2025-003; another commissioner seconded. The motion passed unanimously; the board chair and commissioners signaled “aye” and the chair declared the motion carried.
The approval keeps the filing subject to the 12 original conditions of approval and aligns with the subdivision resolution’s time-extension provisions. Staff and the applicant were present to implement any technical steps required prior to recordation.
Votes at a glance: the board recorded the motion, a second, and a unanimous approval on the record for project file XT2025-003.
The board proceeded to the next land use item after the vote.
