County staff described a lengthy accumulation of decommissioned electronics and “junk” stored across county facilities and said a county employee had solicited a local buyer who would remove and haul away the material after hours. The bidder’s proposal required removal by May 30 and a payment of $150 to the county for the material.
Commissioners discussed whether employees had previously been allowed to purchase county surplus items and asked staff to ensure the county clerk received a copy of the agreement for the record. The commission voted to accept the proposal and directed staff to coordinate removal and documentation with county finance and county counsel.
The motion passed by voice vote; commissioners instructed staff to ensure the buyer remitted payment to the county and provided written documentation for the county clerk’s file.
