KSDE names 200 students Kansas Career & Technical Education scholars for 2025

The Kansas State Department of Education announced 200 students designated as 2025 Kansas Career and Technical Education (CTE) Scholars at the board meeting April 8.
Criteria: To be a CTE Scholar, students had to be seniors, complete at least three CTE credits in a single pathway (with at least two from technical/application levels), maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA in CTE courses, complete a civic engagement project or 40 hours of community service, and demonstrate technical-skill attainment through an industry-recognized credential, at least nine postsecondary credit hours toward a certificate, or a high-quality work-based learning experience.
KSDE highlighted summary metrics: the state's 2023-24 CTE concentrator cohort had a 4-year graduation rate above 99% and a high share earned postsecondary credits in high school. KSDE staff said 79 of the 200 CTE Scholars earned industry-recognized credentials and many earned multiple postsecondary assets; each scholar will receive a certificate, graduation cord and a commemorative lapel pin.
KSDE will distribute news releases and district packets to celebrate the students and provide materials for local recognition.
