Ouachita Parish School Board officials announced several personnel appointments and a set of vacancies the district plans to fill ahead of the 2025–26 school year.
Human-resources staff reported that Dr. Felicia Sledge Murphy will be the district's new director of federal programs. The board also removed interim designations for two principals: Nathan Bridal is now permanent principal at East Washington, and Courtney Thompson is permanent principal at Lakeshore.
The district said it will open recruitments for several positions following announced retirements. Board staff named upcoming vacancies that include director of information technology (to fill the role after Mr. Clint Miller's pending retirement), supervisor of special education, principal at George Welch (following that principal's announced retirement), and four assistant principal positions at Ouachita Parish High School, Sterlington High School, Lakeshore Elementary and Swartz Upper Elementary.
Administrators described the coming weeks as a busy hiring season led by the superintendent's office and human-resources staff. No dates for application deadlines or candidate interviews were provided at the meeting; staff said those recruitments were being opened and processed.
Board members congratulated appointees and thanked staff working on transitions ahead of the next school year.
