Monroe Council Keeps Tucker Administrators for City Health Plan, Increases City Contribution

Monroe — The Monroe City Council approved continuing Tucker Administrators as the claims administrator for the city health plan and cafeteria plan for fiscal year 2025–26 and authorized a 3% increase in the city contribution while leaving employee contributions unchanged.

City staff presented the item, reminding council members that the plan and cafeteria options will remain the same. "Staff is respectfully requesting the city council approve Tucker administrators to continue administering the city health plan and the cafeteria plan," Lisa Hollowell said during the April 8 strategic planning meeting.

The 3% increase to the city's contribution was recommended by the plan provider and had been discussed previously; Hollowell said the provider recommended a 3% increase to the city share and no change to employee contributions. When asked for confirmation, Hollowell replied, "Yes sir," that the additional 3% will be paid by the city and not by employees.

Council discussion included brief favorable comments about the administrator's responsiveness and member experiences using the plan. A motion to approve Tucker Administrators to administer the city's health plan and cafeteria plan for fiscal year 2025–26 was moved and seconded and the council approved it by voice/hand vote.

The action preserves the existing plan structure for plan participants while increasing the employer contribution; the council did not adopt any changes to employee deductibles, plan design or the cafeteria plan at this meeting.
