Health department director Bobby Locke introduced Hirschman as a local provider who has worked in the area and on the Hopi Reservation; Locke said Hirschman could not attend the meeting because of prior patient commitments but that staff had reviewed her resume. A commissioner moved to appoint Hirschman and sign the contract; another commissioner seconded the motion. The board approved the appointment and Locke said she would execute the contract and provide Hirschman with a copy.
Locke told the board Hirschman currently provides care through the local hospital and has lived in Montezuma County for several years. The health department plans to have Hirschman attend future board meetings on a scheduled basis once clinical commitments allow. The contract was documented at the meeting as dated April 8; county staff will follow up with the new medical officer to finalize onboarding.
