The Salt Lake County Council presented a proclamation at its April 8 meeting recognizing April 9, 2025, as Education and Sharing Day and invited Rabbi Zippel to read the text aloud.
Rabbi Zippel read the proclamation, which the council described as recognizing the value of education and moral character and commemorating the birthday of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson. During his remarks Rabbi Zippel thanked the council for allowing the menorah on the Ravenna Hall Plaza each December and described the day as an occasion for residents to reflect on "education and sharing" as civic virtues.
Council members thanked Rabbi Zippel for his work in the community; one council member said the menorah lighting was an event families enjoy and encouraged council members to attend. Staff from the mayor’s office extended Pesach wishes in advance to Rabbi Zippel and the Jewish community.
The proclamation copy was signed by council members present and the mayor’s office; the presentation was ceremonial and no formal vote was recorded in the transcript.
