City transfers event tables and chairs to Tehachapi RPD for community use

The council acknowledged a staff-arranged disposition of surplus city tables and chairs — previously kept in a trailer and used only occasionally — to the Tehachapi Recreation and Park District (TBRPD). Staff and TBRPD officials said the transfer will increase the equipment's use across community events and reduce rental costs for both agencies.
TBRPD General Manager Corey Torres said gaining the inventory will save the district roughly $2,000 a year in rental costs and free funding for programming. Community engagement staff said the city will preserve access for traditional users (for example, the high school's booster club for Fourth of July events) and that arrangements will ensure the city can still access the equipment for city events, including programming tied to the new entertainment zone.
The district said it will also free a trailer for Public Works use and that the additional capacity has already helped avoid rental costs on other recent events. Council and residents who spoke praised the interagency collaboration and made positive comments about park maintenance and programming.
