"We have a new planning document, to go over. We have several business needs," Chair Harrington said, adding the document is intended as a single place for reminders and scheduling.
The chair told commissioners the month tables in the document show quorum meetings of the two boards and do not reflect separate committee meetings. The presentation included an item noting that Alex Barnett will begin onboarding as the county's new County Council and that the board is responsible for his onboarding; the chair also said Alex Barnett "starts and onboarding him, he is a direct report to the board." The transcript notes the chair expects Barnett to begin "no later than Monday, the ninth," but does not identify a month for that date.
The chair also described plans for Clean Water Services (CWS) governance: starting July 1 the goal is for routine CWS business meetings to be standalone, with an additional pattern of CWS board work sessions. Chair Harrington said staff and commissioners are working on roundtable plans for the second half of the year and that a CWS work session day is calendared for Friday, July 18.
The presentation includes a planned "Captive insurance 101" learning forum targeted to Friday, May 16; Chair Harrington said that forum will likely be one hour and in-person only and that calendar holds have been sent to commissioners. "On May 16, captive insurance 101. That's that CWS learning forum that I talked about, and I put a hold on everyone's calendars," the chair said.
Commissioners briefly discussed vacation and holiday scheduling and the limited number of full-board Tuesdays in June through December. One commissioner said seeing the six-month calendar all together was helpful; there was no formal action on the rolling agenda at the session.
No votes or personnel actions were taken at the April 8 work session; the item functioned as a planning review and calendar coordination exercise.
