Sedgwick County staff on Tuesday updated the commission on a multi-year effort to locate and fund a permanent County Administration building, reviewed options including the Envision Building at 610 North Main and a new construction site, and described the financing and lease timeline tied to the county’s current Ruffin Building location.
The update traced the need for additional county administrative and public-safety-related space to 2017, when the county identified added space requirements for the district court, the district attorney’s office and the sheriff’s office. “The Ruffin Building. That lease ends June thirtieth of 2028,” staff member Tanya said, noting the lease includes an early-termination option effective June 30, 2027, with 90 days’ written notice.
County staff said a combination of interim renovations, ARPA funds and a bond sale have paid for court expansions and temporary relocations. Staff reported a 2019 CIP project costing about $6.4 million that…
