Saline County commissioners approve proclamations, contracts and mutual-aid agreement; list of votes

The Saline County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 11 unanimously approved a series of proclamations and administrative agreements, including a proclamation naming April Child Abuse Prevention Month, a proclamation recognizing National County Government Month, a food-service contract addendum for Senior Services, an updated workforce-area agreement and a mutual-aid pact with Lincoln County.
Why it matters: The approvals maintain routine county operations (contracts, proclamations and intergovernmental cooperation) and preserve funding and service arrangements used by county programs, law enforcement and first responders.

- Consent agenda: Approved (consent items included tax roll adjustments, accounts payable, public forum agenda, approval of minutes for March 24 and March 25, 2025, and township board appointment of Karen Vidrickson as Solomon Township clerk). Motion carried unanimously.
- Proclamation: Child Abuse Prevention Month (presented by Paul Forrester, executive director of CAPS). Motion to proclaim April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month carried unanimously.
- Proclamation: National County Government Month (presented by Hannah Bet, deputy county administrator). Motion carried unanimously.
- RFA 2025-47: Trinity addendum to the Senior Services food contract (presentation by Rosie Walter, senior services director). The addendum specifies pricing for voluntary a la carte entrees ($1.85 cost to vendor; county charges $3.00 to unsubsidized patrons) and side dishes ($1.25 cost; county charge $1.50 to unsubsidized patrons). The board approved the addendum as submitted.
- RFA 2025-48: Revised agreement updating the county's designation with the local workforce provider (Kansas Workforce Area I). Philip Smith, county administrator, described the change as administrative bookkeeping to reflect additions to the service area; no county funds are required. The board approved the amended agreement.
- RFA 2025-42: Mutual-aid agreement with Lincoln County for public-safety assistance. Michelle Wise, emergency management director, described the 5-year agreement as largely duplicative of the Kansas Mutual Aid Act but offering additional flexibility for first responders; the board approved the agreement.
