The Boca Raton Community Redevelopment Agency voted unanimously on April 7 to cancel and reschedule certain regular meetings scheduled for June, July and August 2025. The resolution, read aloud by the city clerk, modifies the 2025 summer calendar to cancel the second June meeting, cancel the second July meeting and reschedule the first August meeting, consistent with the agency's traditional summer schedule.
Council and staff described the abbreviated schedule as a long-standing practice. City staff said the summer reduction in regular meetings allows extra time for budget preparation, strategic-plan work and careful review of policy documents in advance of the new fiscal year. Staff also confirmed that a special meeting can be called during the summer if circumstances require it, and that public updates and materials will continue to be posted on the city’s campus website.
Vote and motion The resolution was moved and seconded during the meeting; in a roll-call vote the CRA approved the calendar change with a 5-0 tally. City staff confirmed the shortened schedule has been customary “at least 15 years.”
Background and public questions Members of the public raised concerns that cancelling regular meetings over the summer could reduce opportunities for public input during a critical phase of the campus master plan review. Staff and board members responded that the schedule change is intended to provide staff time to prepare materials, that special meetings may be convened if necessary and that updates will continue to be posted online.
The CRA will reconvene its regular meeting schedule after the summer adjustments and will provide another update at the next meeting following this vote.
