A public hearing on Lindsay Cruz's special-use permit application to keep one agricultural animal on 5.5 acres at 1750 East River Road drew neighbors who said more animals appear present; the board tabled the application and referred it to the planning board for review.
The Town Board opened a public hearing on April 7 on an application by Lindsay Cruz for a special-use permit to keep one agricultural animal on 5.5 acres at 1750 East River Road. Members of the public who spoke at the hearing questioned the application’s characterization of the property and said more animals appear to be present than the single animal described in the permit request.
Paul Swain told the board he believed there were “at least 2 cows back there, maybe a hundred chickens, maybe 30 geese” and suggested the application did not match conditions on the property. Other residents asked similar questions about the number and types of animals on the site. The board heard the public comments and acknowledged it had not yet received a planning-board recommendation.
After public comment, the board tabled the special-use permit and referred it to the planning board for review; the item will return to the Town Board after the planning board has considered it. The board recorded aye votes to table and refer the matter, and the clerk announced that the item will be taken up again following the planning board’s review.
