Board hears plan to remove aging Hannah Penn bleachers; Devers camera upgrades prioritized

"The next 1, would be Devers to get the cameras, upgraded and all the blind spots covered so that we have enough security and, that's in place to protect our students and staff," Haynes said.
On the Hannah Penn bleachers, Haynes and Dr. Houghnagle described the stands as very old and causing floor damage in the gym; they recommended removal and replacement. Haynes said removal would take roughly 20 days and promised a cost analysis and replacement options would be brought back to the board. "They are, you know, they're very old. They're they're causing damage to the floor, and, they could be considered unsafe for our kids," he said.
Board members raised concerns about routine maintenance and cosmetic issues at several schools, including painting at Devers and Steam Academy steps, and urged staff to follow up on specific work orders. Director Ward said building operators should file work orders when issues arise; Liggins and Haynes asked board members to provide particulars so facilities staff can follow up.
