The Forney ISD Board of Trustees approved multiple routine and personnel measures during its March open meeting, voting to accept a multi‑item consent agenda, grant the superintendent temporary hiring authority through Sept. 9, 2025, award a construction contract for Henderson Elementary’s roof and HVAC replacement and renew administrator and professional personnel contracts after closed session.
The board unanimously approved the consent agenda, which the agenda listed as: approval of the Feb. 3, 2025, minutes; budget amendments; a depository contract extension; purchase of golf simulators; copier lease renewal; local policy update FNA (second and final reading); and a low‑attendance waiver. “I make a motion that the board approve the consent agenda collectively as presented,” a trustee said before the board voted in favor by voice.
Trustees also voted to grant the superintendent hiring authority through Sept. 9, 2025, so the district can contract and onboard staff earlier in the recruitment season. District staff said the temporary authority is intended to help the district “retain and acquire the most qualified applicants” given projected enrollment increases.
The board approved a construction bid to replace rooftop HVAC units, associated rooftop screens, plywood and PVC roofing membrane at Henderson Elementary. The project cost presented to the board was $2,210,000.00. District staff said the work is a summer capital project needed to keep the district on schedule for the next school year.
Following a closed session held earlier in the meeting, trustees approved contract renewals for administrators and other professional contract personnel. The board voted on the renewal motion in open session after closed deliberations.
Motions on the consent agenda, the hiring authority, the Henderson construction bid and the contract renewals were all carried by voice vote and recorded as approved in open session. Specific roll‑call tallies were not read into the public minutes at the meeting.
Items moved for future board action included a recommendation to place TASB policy update 124 on the April consent agenda for final action.
