Chatfield recognized again as Connecticut School of Distinction, board presents banner

Superintendent Roger Compton announced that Chatfield (CLS) received recognition as a School of Distinction from the Connecticut Department of Education for the second consecutive year and presented a banner to the school during the board meeting.

Compton said the recognition reflects work by teachers, administrators, students and families, particularly efforts to close achievement gaps. "It happens because of you — students, the teachers who teach you, and the administration who helps guide you," Compton said. He described the award as an honor that stems from work beginning in preschool and continuing through the elementary grades.

The board and superintendent presented a banner to the school; staff and student ambassadors held the banner for a group photograph planned for the gym. Compton also noted plans to give pins to student ambassadors during a school visit.
