High-school counselors propose switching from Naviance to SCORE for college and career advising

Lynch told the Curriculum Committee on April 7 that SCORE (spelled S-C-O-I-R in some vendor materials) is locally based, offers a more mobile-friendly student interface and provides counselor-facing dashboards designed to reduce time spent on administrative tasks such as transcript requests, teacher-recommendation tracking and application-document delivery. Lynch said SCORE includes optional AI-driven predictive “chance” features, scattergram-like historical admit/deny visualization and a mobile app that she and colleagues expect will increase student engagement earlier in high school.
Counselors described a timeline that would move juniors onto SCORE first: train staff and migrate data during spring and summer, train rising seniors and families in April–May, and onboard additional grades in the fall. Lynch said SCORE offers a free trial period for the district to migrate data and evaluate the product; a vendor representative has conducted a demo for the counseling department and provided follow-up support while the district considers the change.
Lynch said SCORE’s pricing is lower per student than Naviance and that SCORE offers a 50% discount for students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. She noted SCORE’s recent announcement of integration with the Common Application and said the vendor has experience importing prior Naviance data without material problems in neighboring districts that have already switched. Counselors said they plan to keep Naviance through the July contract expiration while migrating student records to SCORE.
The committee discussed logistics including teacher recommendation workflows, transcript delivery and the potential to include middle-school (grades 6–8) career resources. Counselors said SCORE can accommodate career and technical-education pathways, community colleges, military options and non–four-year pathways in the same platform.
