Board approves 2025–26 program-of-study updates and more CCP course options

The Fairfield Union Local Board approved the district’s 2025–26 program of study and related curriculum items during the meeting.

Superintendent and curriculum staff told trustees the district expects to add several additional College Credit Plus (CCP) courses through Muskingum University; some other proposed CCP additions may be delayed until next year. The board also approved additions in music and art and new journalism and communications options as part of the program of study.

Curriculum staff noted the district recently expanded its music program to include choir and music instruction beginning in fifth grade, and presenters reported that participation has produced state-level recognition for students: the elementary and middle-school youth choir performed at a state event in Cleveland and had 13 students selected among 26 participants. Trustees approved the program-of-study items on second reading.

The board also approved one-time payments for certified employees who supported the school musical; the presentation noted such payments are handled through payroll rather than purchase orders when recipients are employees. The board said the typical onetime payment is $500 but that, because of an additional show this year, listed payments of $599 for the affected certified employees as presented.
