Director gives updates on growth planning, budget prep and staff-development day

Elliott said the district is monitoring the city’s recently approved urban growth boundary map and will continue conversations about how future growth might affect facilities and capacity. He said the board held a retreat and plans a special called meeting in the near future to continue growth-and-facilities planning.
On budgeting, Elliott said he and staff, including Cindy Garen, have been meeting with staff representatives, the family advisory council and administrative teams to gather feedback for the 2025–26 budget preparation. Those discussions will continue over the coming weeks.
Elliott also reminded the board that the Tennessee Department of Education approved one staff development day to be held on Friday, May 16; the board had approved that date on the consent agenda earlier in the meeting. He reviewed recent and upcoming district events, including concerts, assessments (elementary assessments begin April 14), CTE banquet, senior awards and other community activities.
Elliott’s presentation covered operational updates and calendar items; no formal board action was taken on future-growth planning other than scheduling continued study and a forthcoming special meeting.
