The Lindon City Council approved two consent items on April 7: an Arbor Day proclamation needed to maintain Tree City USA certification, and a real‑estate purchase agreement related to widening 2000 West that the city negotiated with Northpointe Solid Waste.
City staff described the 2000 West transaction as a land‑strip exchange to widen the shoulder of the roadway adjacent to Northpointe’s property. Rather than a cash purchase, the city and Northpointe agreed on a goods‑and‑services trade: the city will acquire a narrow strip along the fence line in exchange for stormwater and fence improvements to the Northpointe site. Staff said there was no cash exchange. Northpointe’s counsel requested that staff add a dollar value for the installed storm‑drain and pipe work to the memorandum; staff agreed to add that figure before finalizing the record.
Council member Van Broderick moved to approve the consent agenda items; council member Steve Stewart seconded. The motion passed without objection.
The Arbor Day proclamation will be part of the city’s Tree City USA certification documentation. The 2000 West property adjustment allows the city to proceed with widening that roadway segment as previously authorized by the council; staff will memorialize the agreed dollar amount for the improvements in the project memo.
