Princeton — The Board of Commissioners on April 7 agreed to pursue a realtor listing for 107 North Pearl Street, a town-owned rental house that staff says may need to be moved or demolished to make way for a nearby parking and library project.
Staff presented a photograph and property information and asked the board whether to list the structure for sale, seek bids, or consider moving or demolition alternatives. The board discussed options including (a) listing the house for sale with a realtor (the town would require the buyer to handle disconnecting and moving the structure or demolition), (b) selling it via the upset-bid process with a 10-day upset period, (c) moving the building to a town-owned lot, or (d) demolishing the structure.
Staff said it would contact a local realtor that had previously assisted with the town’s vacant-lot sale to learn whether the realtor can list a structure that must be moved. “We can get photos of it, and I'll put it online,” a Staff member said when describing the practical steps for advertising. The realtor will also be asked to recommend a listing price, minimums and any special listing language (for example, buyer responsibility for disconnecting and moving the house).
The board adopted a motion authorizing staff to have the town’s realtor list the property if the realtor confirms it can do so; if the realtor is unable to list it, the town will handle a local listing and upset-bid process internally. The motion passed (vote recorded in meeting: approved). Staff said they will take photos, solicit a realtor’s recommendation and return the information to the board. The current tenant, identified in meeting remarks as Miss Snyder, has been notified and staff said the property should be vacated in a timeframe consistent with the sale or demolition process.
No final sale terms or minimum price were set; staff said they will present a recommended listing price and recommended process once they hear back from the realtor.
