Cedar Falls council approves roundabout, authorizes easements after public safety debate

Cedar Falls’ City Council voted April 7 to approve the Highway 57/Union Road intersection improvement project — a single‑lane roundabout — and to authorize temporary easements needed for construction and to maintain traffic during the work.

The decision followed a public hearing in which neighbors, farmers and emergency‑services advocates raised concerns about access during construction, whether large agricultural equipment could pass the new geometry and how the project would affect emergency response times.
