Parish CIO outlines network upgrades, cybersecurity activity and new citizen-request tools

Anthony Ayo, chief information officer for St. Charles Parish, delivered an update to the council on April 7 describing completed infrastructure upgrades, ongoing cybersecurity monitoring and several technology projects planned for 2025.
Ayo said the parish completed a near-parishwide wired-network upgrade and a prior wireless refresh in 2024 and moved the phone system (SIP trunk) to a cloud-based configuration to reduce single-vendor outages. He told the council the IT office completed a contract lifecycle-management project and is executing a network-resource consolidation to optimize capacity across sites.
On cybersecurity, Ayo said the parish—s security operations center (SOC) analyzed "over 3,800,000,000 data points" in 2024, which produced 256 investigations and 16 items that required evaluation; he said none of those items developed into confirmed compromises. "None of these reported events for evaluation have turned into an actual compromise," Ayo said on the record.
Planned work includes a Citizens Request Management System to track resident requests and workflows across departments, camera upgrades at remote sites such as parks, and an Alertus rollout to replace legacy panic buttons — starting at the courthouse — allowing desktop and taskbar incident alerts for events such as active shooter or severe weather. Ayo also noted a recent launch of a Waterworks call center and said the IT office will undertake a policy and documentation review now that new capabilities are online.
Ayo introduced staff members and thanked parish leadership for funding and support. The presentation generated no council questions recorded in the minutes.
