Fire Department reports wildfire work: 24 local CWPPs implemented, 197 home assessments and 2,000+ acres of prescribed burns assisted

Division Chief Carrie Stewart gave the Public Safety Commission the biannual wildfire‑preparedness update, summarizing community plans, outreach, fuel‑mitigation work and training.
Stewart said Austin has completed 24 local Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) and has 22 CWPPs started but not completed. She said of the area the city classifies as high risk for wildfire, about 51 percent is covered by a local CWPP and 49 percent remain opportunities for local planning.
