The Village Board voted unanimously on April 7 to approve ground lease agreements with the Menomonee Falls Historical Society and Friends of Old Falls Village Inc. for Old Falls Village Park.
Trustee Tatum moved to approve the agreements; a second was recorded and the motion passed without dissent. Trustees said the leases are substantially the same as prior years with minor differences and that a calendar attached to the agreements shows extensive park programming.
Under the agreements, Friends of Old Falls Village will maintain the grounds and the Menomonee Falls Historical Society will maintain buildings on the site. Trustees noted a new clause addressing dissolution: if either nonprofit dissolves, remaining funds would be distributed pursuant to the applicable state statute, with municipal recipients considered when appropriate.
Trustees praised the groups’ programming, which the board described as heavily used and family-oriented; examples mentioned in the meeting included World War II and Civil War reenactments and a Vietnam-era/1960s event.
Why it matters: The leases formalize responsibilities for long-running recreational and historical programming at Old Falls Village Park and clarify what happens to nonprofit-held funds if an organization dissolves.
What the board decided: The ground lease agreements passed unanimously; trustees encouraged residents to view the attached event calendar and attend the summer schedule of events.
