The City of Brooksville council on April 7 authorized the mayor to sign a staff‑prepared letter responding to a recent state communication. Staff told council the governor’s office provided a multi‑point checklist and requested municipalities respond; the city’s review found it did not meet the tests cited and staff recommended the mayor sign the response.
Staff said the League of Cities drafted a template and staff adapted the response for Brooksville. The council voted to authorize the mayor to sign the letter so staff could submit the response to the state by the stated deadline.
The motion to authorize the mayor to sign the letter passed unanimously, 5–0.
